FAQ
Connection
01. What do I need to connect to WiZone's WIFI Service?
Users will need a WiFi equipped notebook, desktop computer, PDA or smartphone to connect. All WiZone HotZones and Access Points have the SSID: WiZone_<#>. If you use your WiFi software to scan the immediate area and you find one or several of these SSIDs, just choose the one with the strongest signal. If you don't find any SSIDs with WiZone_<#> then it means that particular area is not covered by our service. Please try to move to another location and try again.
02. The signal is very low in my area. How do I make it stronger?
There are several ways to boost the reception of the signal. You can try to move closer to the window. You can use an external WiFi card or better yet get a high powered (200mW) version. You can also use a WIFI accesspoint in Client or Bridge mode to connect to our Base Stations. Finally, you can install the unit outdoors (on your roof or outside a window) with an external high-gain antenna. All these steps will extend the range & boost the transmit/receive power of the WiFi signal.
03. The signal is very low in my area. Can you put a Repeater/Booster in my area?
Please try the steps in #2 above. This will help you to get the signal from our Base Stations. However, if your area is blocked by several other buildings or simply too far away from our nearest transmitter, you can help us to provide better service to your area by lobbying your building/apartment/condo/office management or owner to allow us to put a Repeater or Transmitter on top of the location.
04. The signal is very low in my area. My Notebook/PC can detect the WiZone Access Point but the signal is very low. I cannot connect to it. Why?
Your notebook can detect the low signal because we are using special transmitters for large outdoor area WiFi coverage. Your notebook can receive the signals but because the built-in WiFi chipset does not have enough transmit power, it’s not able to send the signal far enough to get back to our transmitters.
05. I can't log out when i'm not going to use the connection anymore. How do i log out of the network? Is there a way to log out?
YES! Your browser probably has the “Pop-up Blocker” turned on. You should disable it so that you can see our “login window and timer”. If you don’t want to turn off the pop-up blocker, just disconnect from the network or turnoff your computer. After 15mins, your account will be automatically logged off from the network.
Coverage
01. I can't get the WiZone signal in my office/house/apartment...Why Not?
The WiZone service is targeted to provide basic, no frills, internet connectivity to the general public. The coverage areas are generally in and around public areas or in select buildings, apartments and residential areas. Please refer to the list of our HotZones for the latest coverage areas . If your area is covered but you still cannot get a good signal, you can try to move to another seating location to get a better signal. In general, you will have a better chance of getting the WiZone signal if you are next to a window than if you are in the middle of the office or house.
02. When will my area/town/city have WiZone's Service?
WiZone is rolling out its services in stages. If your area is not covered currently and you would like WiZone to be available in your area, please register your interest with us. Also get your friends who are interested to do the same thing. The more people requesting for WiZone service in your area, they higher the chance of Wizone rolling out in your area.
